   John & Sharon Saponari

Single Focus, Sunday School, New Convert Care, Bible Study Teacher

Bro. John Saponari leads our Tuesday Night Bible Study called  Focus.  Meeting in the home Sis. Denise Steward, Single Focus is touching the needs of the single community in a positive manner.  Since the Fall of 2005, Bro. Saponari has been leading the Elijah's Mantel Class.  It is an introductory course of Apostolic beliefs and practice.

Also, an important part of the team is Sharon Saponari.   Sharon started attending the United Pentecostal Church of DeKalb in January of 2002. Coming from a varied spiritual background, she quickly realized the power of the Apostolic message. After being baptized in Jesus' name, she was filled with the Holy Ghost. In December of 2002, John and Sharon married in a evening candlelight service. Sharon is involved in Focus, Ladies' Prayer, Sunday School, and Ladies' Ministry, as well as working in our multimedia ministries.  She has complemented his ministry and talents.

Vital Statistics: Raised in New York, John started attending the church in January of 2000. A man of many talents, John is a natural born leader. He spent his early years in pursuit of a career as professional ballplayer. John found himself awash in the destructive patterns of worldly pleasure. When an old high school friend was converted, John took notice of the major change in his friend's life. It didn't take long for him to realize the Apostolic truth was for him. Baptized in Jesus name on January 29, 1982, he quickly received the baptism of the Holy Ghost the very next day.

Since his conversion, John has been very involved in the church including teaching Sunday School, playing in worship services, and reaching out to lost people. Week by week, he operates our sound board, leads the Single Focus group, and wants to reach DeKalb for Jesus.

John is an especially gifted salesman. He understands people, and cares about doing a quality job. He moved to Illinois to take a job in Chicago, and our church has been blessed by his coming.  In 2003, John, Sharon, and Pastor Davis opened a local office for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.  Currently, they have 4 office locations, process over 1,650 tax returns annually, and own four territories in Northern Illinois.
