Prayer Director & Usher Staff...

John & Pat Larson

Larson.jpg (39761 bytes)"Can we help you build a church?" asked Sis. Larson in the fall of 1992. Feeling God's direction to help, John and Pat Larson have been the backbone of the vision for DeKalb. As the first official saints of the church, they have been the iron pillars that have led the way for the Gospel in the city of DeKalb.

When the church plan's for a worship center fell through, Bro. Larson helped secure our first meeting place, the River Heights Golf Course club house. Always a blessing, the two have helped out regardless of the need, time of day, or night. God has used them from the beginning to bless the growth of the congregation. When we needed curtains at our first meeting place, Sis. Larson stayed up all night to get curtains sown. When our first evangelistic suppers were cooked, they drove 45 miles, one way, to make sure they were there.

Vital Statistics:   This wonderful couple have learned the hard lessons of forgiving love. Before they both were in the church, they had separated and divorced. God led them both to strong, committed, Christian walks. In time, they fell in love again and were remarried in California in 1991. Bro. Larson is a journeymen electrician who retired in June of 2000. Bro. Larson is Board Member, Usher, and Chief Building Electrical Maintence Staff. He saved the church thousands of dollars when they built their new facility on Seventh St.

ZemPray.jpg (61722 bytes)Sis. Larson is a multi-talented woman who spins her own yarn, crochets, knits, and has never met a craft she couldn't duplicate. She currently is our Prayer Director, has led our Ladies' Prayer group for the last 8 years, New Convert Care Director, and Official Grandmother to all the children. Whenever a new convert prays through, Sis. Larson is not too far away to join in the celebration of new spiritual birth. Pastor Davis calls her a spiritual midwife. She has six children who live in Illinois, Alabama, Kansas, California, and Oregon.  It is no wonder when they retired, they bought a motor home. As long as we can keep them, their family at the United Pentecostal Church want them around. We love them dearly.
